Neil shares how he and Dana have been going through a season of adversity and “overcoming opportunities” in various areas of their lives over the past few months. This has included physical injuries, household issues, and even bringing home a bed bug infestation after a trip. However, Neil sees God using these challenges as a means of speaking to them and preparing them for a new season. God had previously told them they needed to “stop doing what you’re doing and do new” – shifting from just teaching to more of an impartation and expression of God’s love. Neil explains that he and others sensed the recent election would mark a spiritual turning point, a “new beginning” that would require them to let go of the past and embrace God’s cleansing and refining work. The bed bug infestation became a metaphor for this – requiring them to thoroughly purge their home of the old to make way for the new. Now, as they prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving, Neil sees this as the start of a fresh, renewed season – one filled with anticipation of a “new anointing, new love, new kingdom presence, new direction” from God. Neil encourages us to apply these same principles of rooting out the old to make way for God’s new plans in our own lives.
