John 15 continues at verse 9. See John 15 Part 1 and John 15 Part 2
God wants me to reveal Him amid adversity. I do works because of my faith, not to get faith. I do things with Jesus as a result of my relationship, not to get my relationship. My works show my relationship.
How do we abide in His love? Keeping His commandments. And we do His commandments because we love Him.
The way we have JOY is when we have been obedient to the need of the relationship – that which reveals the relationship to the person we love and to the others that see this love.
“You are my friends if you do what I command you…” this is the need of the relationship. Obey His command to be LOVE because you have a love relationship with Jesus.
