The Lord spoke to me this morning, “I’m about ready to judge prophecy and the prophets.”
Prophecy is meant to bring you into the right place with God. There is nothing in the New Testament where prophecy was about how glamorous your future will be, how big your ministry is, and how wonderful a person you are. The church is in a defining moment.
We are unprofitable servants. We have done that which it was our duty to do.
Do you know the old painting that has the title ‘The bishop comforting his troops’? It shows the bishop with a spear jabbing it into the backsides of the soldiers as they go over the top into the battle. I listened to this after listening to 109 about edifying. There is ‘comfort’ in hearing God’s voice – ‘it’s OK – I AM’ and its going to put some backbone in you too – it isn’t comfort if it doesn’t. I have heard so much rubbish that was supposed to be prophecy. Which was the king who says “I don’t want him to prophecy, he never says anything good of me’ – was it Ahab? We’re going well. It’s good to hear these messages. I keep away from flattery, but not so sure I do much edifying.
It is in 2 Chronicles 18:5 or so. Jehosephat was King.
