Hebrews 11:1-6 (NKJV,)

1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. 3 By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things that are seen were not made of things which are visible. 4…56 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He rewards those who diligently seek Him.

Ok, a couple of things here; One: Faith is the substance and the evidence of what we cannot see.  Faith, therefore, is the proof or evidence of Love.  Love energizes faith and gives us hope.  Faith causes us to see what is hidden or not tangible. Not seen does not mean substance and evidence of it does not exist. Two: Without faith we cannot please God. but if we come to Him (exhibit “belief that He is” – faith) and diligently seek Him – He is our rewarder! When we look at these heroes of faith in this chapter we find that all of them looked forward tothe” promise. That is a pretty incredible statement! They did not gain “the promise”, Heb. 11:39). All of them were pretty amazing and saw God’s hand move on their behalf spectacularly. Many suffered some seriously bad times yet never wavered. In verse 33 it says, “through faith” they lived…

Through = the channel of an act, by occasion of, by reason of,

faith =persuasion, i.e. credence; moral conviction (of a truth or religious truth, or of the truthfulness of God.

So, it appears that “by the actions they lived, the words they spoke and the dreams they lived for” they gave credence and persuasion to their belief (faith) in the truthfulness of the God of the Bible. Their moral conviction of the truth of God caused them to see beyond that which existed and they lived the reality of believing, trusting, having faith in The God that cannot lie.  They trusted Words from a being they could not see or touch (except supernaturally in the spirit).  They believed He was, is, and will always be; that He would destroy evil and that there is to be a place with Him, to those who exhibited faith in Him, forever where there would be no death.

There was no bible, and most all of them had no written word to look to or check. Many of them walked alone, no one else heard what they did. How is it that they knew who was speaking to them and why trust this voice? That is where faith always comes in. Faith takes you one step beyond what is reasonable. They chose to live their lives in response to The Voice!  Many of you are saying, there are many voices and what about those who say, “God told me to… and what they did or do is evil or wrong.” Well, there are many voices out there and man will always use “God” as an excuse or to blame for the evil they do. These facts do not take away the truth that God speaks and we do know whether it is God or not! Jn. 16:8-14. In this world, to know you have done right, wrong or to be convicted or convinced you have to hear from God. You cannot “get saved” if you do not know the voice of God and which God He is!

Man is a faith being. Everything we do has an element of faith to it. From the beginning until now mankind have moved and grown “by or through” faith.  The first wheel, the first train, the first multi-story building, the first shoe, the first phone and computer; the first miracle. By Faith- ALL!

Man is always stepping one step beyond what we know or see. Perceived need and Inspiration are the seed of faith. Invention, innovation, design and production are the results. Faith always produces action or results of one kind or another. Risk is always there in the midst of faith, and fear. Fear wants to squelch or stop faith from being embraced because faith produces life! It takes risk and trust to embrace faith and refute fear.

Because I have seen a bit of the supernatural, spiritual, or miraculous, (legs growing out, dead raised, cancers healed, a heart restored to health, rain on a rectangular field only, etc), a lot of people will say to me, “I wish I had faith like that” or ask, “how do I get faith like yours”? My answer to them is, “It is about love and living trust out”.

I believe that faith reveals, in reality; our love, The Truth and God! Faith is an elementary principle of life, is creative and leads to the discovery of Truth and is a result of true Agape’ love. (There is in the NT “the gift of faith” used by HS in ministry that could be termed as, ‘radical faith moments’. It is used to edify the body with. Other than that I see nowhere that religious faith is any different than simply, “faith”, any faith). Mankind lives by faith and gets to choose what or who to put his faith in.

1Cor.13:13 (NKJV) “And now abide faith, hope, and love, these three; but the greatest is Love”.  The ‘Church’ majors on our lack of faith many times, seldom mentions ‘hope’ and tends to make living as His Love unattainable. Thus faith is taken out of context. It abides with ‘hope and love’.

Faith, like hope and love, demands a choice. (if we have no choice then we are simply puppets with no hope and love is not real.) Without choice – faith, hope, and love cannot exist! What does your life say or speak about who or what you place your faith in? Faith can be seen, measured and felt. Christians are to exhibit Faith in God! But remember the ‘greatest is Love”, because it is the motivation for walking in both faith and hope!

For all the years I have been a follower of Christ I have listened to so many leaders talk about faith and though they may not have intended to, they have caused many to conclude that their problem is that they have no faith or their faith is too small. These people then try to “conjure” or work up more faith. They try to work their faith up by singing or praying more, reading more, living a more “holy” life, etc. Unfortunately they end up frustrated and disillusioned. This then relegates people “walking in faith” to the “elite or special ones”.  Reality; all of God’s people should be shown that they do have enough faith and that faith is built into more by walking out what they have. We need to cause them to become aware that they are operating in faith. The Church needs to know that faith is not what they lack! What is lacking is Love or intimacy with Father. Gal. 5:6 …”faith working through Love” is the key to a faith life in Jesus and carrying His anointing.

The problem in the body of Christ is that we are not taught how to walk with God in a dynamic love relationship that causes faith to show. Every person has been given Faith,  “God has dealt to each one a measure of faith”.(Rom.12:3) The key here is the word “dealt or given”, not worked for… You can not “work up faith”, you simply have it.!

We need to find a way to accept this truth and stop worrying about having enough faith. If we find intimacy and relationship with Father, faith becomes a non-issue.

It is interesting how we try to prove our faith or defend the Truth. Faith is seen and The Truth stands! They do not need defending, nor can they be hidden, nor attained, and my opinion changes neither of them. What I believe and what you believe will never change the truth or the reality of us having faith. When accepted The Truth changes us – our faith, hope and love! We are to be living epistles of Faith that reveals Truth, lives in hope and exhibits Love. We are not called to be defenders of the Truth, but examples of it. Thus revealing faith – in Our God!

We need to exhibit trust (have faith in) Father that is seen; Action that is a result of our relationship, not to get His approval or to gain some advantage in our lives but because we trust Him. Walking with Father God (our Father) just because He is God, not because of all the promises, reveals the faith we have.

Our lives reveal our faith. It is true that if we have no works (of faith in God) how can it be said we have faith in God? We need to know that we are born in faith, live by faith and exist in a world filled with faith actions. Faith is simple, profound and normal and Faith in God is a choice. We need to be an example of “putting or having” our faith in The Lord. Let the world see our faith through our works and words that reveal The Truth. God is Love!
